The Senior Chemical Processing Engineer provides technical support for Chemical Processes across all Mettis Business units. Through customer contact and specification review, develop and maintain Mettis Chemical Process and where applicable other ISO 17025, NADCAP and customer accreditations.

Scope and Responsibilities
- Lead the translation and incorporation of customer required Specification, drawing and any other contractual requirements into Mettis Quality Management System
- Lead Mettis Chemical Process related ISO 17025, NADCAP and Customer audit
- Interface with Mettis chosen Chemical process service provider (Veolia), Site Environmental and H&S to provide technical input for chemical activities performed on site to meet customer and environmental requirements
- Lead the production problems investigations
- Support other Special processes activity on site to facilitate on going Nadcap accreditation
- Support the Senior Engineering Leader and QA manager to maintain compliance with Industry sector and Mettis customer standards
- This role is free from any undue internal and external commercial, financial, production and other pressures and influences that may adversely affect the decision making process
- The Senior Chemical Process Engineer holds delegated responsibility from the Senior Engineering Leader for the Chemical Laboratory operation. The scope of the delegation is detailed in the Engineering Management structure.
- The Senior Chemical Process Engineer is furnished with the authority and resources to perform the duties within the scope of their responsibilities within the Material and Process Engineering remit across site. This includes implementing, maintaining and improving the management system. Any departures from this system or the testing and calibration procedures will be identified and actions to prevent or minimise these occurrences will be initiated, managed and resolved.
- Continuously Promote improvements to existing Chemical Special Processes and Chemistry related Materials Testing Instructions and procedures
- Participate and progress personal objectives set out In Site TVP and Material and process business plans to aid continuous improvement throughout the business
- To set and progress objectives for Laboratory and Special Process operators to aid continuous improvement throughout the business
- To manage and act as a source of advice and training for subordinate team members and Chemical Process operators
- Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure that the best quality of service is maintained to our customers
- Ensure personnel continue to meet the company health and safety and environmental requirements through guidance advice and training as required
- To uphold the responsibilities to support compliance by all members of Mettis team of all Specifications, manuals, procedures, instructions related to business Management System

- Manage Chemical Process documentation for all divisions, Chemical Process and related functions, (data cards, internal process specification, general procedures, standard operating procedures, production control sheets and quality instructions)

- Liaise with customers and suppliers
- Provide technical support for Metallurgy/Engineering/Planning/Contract review departments
- Provide technical input for NPI projects
- Support with the auditing of Chemical Processing sub-contract companies
- In addition to leading the technical activities to maintain and improve Chemical Process activity and approvals, the role will fully support operational initiatives to continually strive for improvement innovation and cost effectiveness.

Experience and Qualifications
- Experience on Anodising, chemical conversion and etching processes
- An understanding of the Nadcap chemical processing programmes
- A recognised industry standard, Chemistry or metal finishing qualification, i.e. institute of metal finishing, and surface treatments association.
