An innovative, combined heat and power plant has been developed for our site.

The plant uses natural gas to generate electricity which enables us to supply energy to equipment across our site in a more cost-effective way. It also increases our ability to maintain a consistent supply of energy to our facilities.

The plant has two engines of 1.5MW each, enough to power 1,000 kettles.

Waste heat from the units can also be used to heat water in our processing tanks and heat buildings, making our operations more sustainable.

Ian Maund, Plant Engineering Manager, who was instrumental in delivering the project, said: “It’s great to have the new plant on site. It will significantly advance the way we manage energy and continue delivering for customers cost-effectively.”

The plant was installed in just five months and is now in operation.
