Mettis Aerospace, gas analysis, forging, aerospace forgingNadcap recently approved an extended range of our metallurgical processes, reaffirming our ability to work to some of the industry’s most demanding standards.

Nadcap’s validation process, which forms part of a single unified programme of audits covering aerospace suppliers, involves scrutinising our procedures to ensure all specifications and industry standards are in place. It confirms our people have the necessary training, are performing processes competently and their work meets all requirements.

As part of our latest audit, covering materials testing, we gained approvals for a micro hardness tester and metallographic software, which we purchased as part our most recent investment in our laboratories. The audit included our material cleanliness checks (inclusion counts and delta ferrite determination) and near surface analysis by micro hardness.

Mettis holds Nadcap’s MERIT status

We now hold four special process groupings which are approved by Nadcap, three of which have MERIT status. The MERIT programme is only open to companies, like ourselves, which Nadcap has repeatedly confirmed are operating to high standards.

Nadcap’s accreditation programmes are some of the most rigorous in the world and we have undergone forty rounds since we joined the programme in 2001, enabling us to maintain our MERIT status.

We also hold ISO 9001 and AS9100 accreditations for quality management, which are required by Nadcap.

In addition, our laboratory holds ISO 17025 accreditation, a supplementary requirement mandated by many aerospace primes for materials testing laboratories. This accreditation allows us to provide laboratory services to other aerospace companies as well.

Our approvals scope continues to expand

Nadcap continues to extend its scope. In addition to maintaining our existing accreditation, we plan to add two new special process groups this year, covering forging processes as well as our measurement and inspection programmes.

We look forward to demonstrating our growing range of capabilities to Nadcap.
